The beautiful Brittany Dom shot by RickRitz

The Beautiful Brittany Dom

If you don’t finish a shoot project with Brittany and become terribly fond of her in the process, you’ve definitely missed out on the best part. Brittany approached me to do a PB submission shoot with a firm resolve and terrific confidence though she had not even done anything of the sort previously. The images here are Exhibit 1 as to how gorgeous she is (alas, the tamer part of our session). But there’s no way to fully describe how engaging she is personally. She’s a very intuitive talent; even though she has not had very many model shoots, she is very creative and very collaborative. We both arrived on the same page very quickly and every idea I would start to suggest was something she was already beginning to put into motion. Both as a model and person, I’ve described her as “heart throb city”. I think that says it best.

GMM: So tell us a bit about yourself:

My name is Brittany Dom and I’m a cocktail waitress and model from Chicago, IL. I’m African American and my measurements are 5’10”. Bust: 39D Waist: 28 Hips: 44. Five words to describe me? I would say that I’m an introvert as well as extrovert at times. I’m excited, intricate and sentimental. I’m a Leo and like most Leo’s I’m strong, bold and ready to take on anything! I’m also very loyal and outgoing! I would say my best asset is my personality, but others have often said my eyes.

Tell us about your modeling career?

I started searching craigslist earlier this year to be proactive in this industry and stumbled upon an ad for a ring girl competition. I received a reply back, entered the competition, and came out apart of a wonderful Modeling group. With that, I was introduced to many photographers in the area with many different connections and everything just took off from there. I guess my true “start” was believing in myself and taking control:). Presently, I’m not signed with an agency. What I love about modeling? I enjoy being able to take on different personalities and concepts. Also being able to make an idea come to life is the most enticing thing ever. I’ve always been a very imaginative person. My favorite part is looking at my pictures afterward and just looking in to my own eyes to see if I can feel the concept. Then I know that my audience will be able to do the same and that brings me joy and pride. Funniest thing to happen to me at a shoot? Shooting out on an extremely windy day and my skirt wanted to do the Marilyn and fly up, which would’ve been hot!..but I forgot to wear underwear. Oops. As far as shoot styles go, I’d have to say my favorites are Lingerie/Boudoir, Glamour/Elegance, and anything “Dark.” It really allows me to feel strong emotions.

Do you enjoy the constant attention and adoration that comes with being a glamour model”

I do. It’s always nice as a woman to be told you’re beautiful, especially with so many beautiful women in the world.

Where do you want your career to be in two years?

I want to be published many times and on the runways constantly. I would also like to be a speaking model for media and a mentor to younger women.

What are some of your hidden talents other than modeling?

I’ve been dancing since I was 7. I also like to sing. (And I like to think I do it well) haha.

Take us through your getting ready to model routine?

Oy! Well, basic woman maintenance, (nails, shave, brows, hair, makeup, etc.). I do my own makeup and own styling. I’ll basically Google the concepts I’m going for and study other models to get a vision. Once I have that vision, I’m like on auto pilot when I shoot. I just feel, envision, and WERK!

What is the best info you can give a new model?

Make a list of all of the things you love about yourself. Take tons of selfies in different angles. Figure out your good sides, bad sides, and overall strong points. Discover what the camera loves about you and own it. Practice shapes and  facial expressions.

As a model, what would you say has been your biggest obstacle?

My face ! I’ve always had a bad case of RBF (resting b face), so when I first started out, it was always an obstacle for me to have my thoughts reflect in my facial expressions. Advice to models, really push the envelope with your faces because the camera won’t see what look you THINK you’re giving. Smize that much harder.

If you had to walk way form modeling today, what memory would you take from it?

I would take away the confidence I feel when I shoot and the great experiences I’ve had with photographers and other models:)

If you had to walk away, what would you like to be remembered most for?

I would like to be remembered for my heart and personality

What, if anything, did we leave out that you want your fans to know?

I am very blessed and humbled to be where I am today. Coming from insecurity and anxiety, I would love to be a leader and example for anyone that you should never let ANYTHING hold you back! Also! Don’t forget to give my Official Facebook page a like!
